We are currently seeking a Shear Tag Operator to join the team and be part of building the plant from the ground up. This individual will monitor the cooling bed and bundle tying equipment while focusing on safety, quality products, and efficient operation. The Shear Tag Operator is responsible for bundle integrity, verification of length control, and bar quality while providing feedback to the Pulpit Operator and Mill Supervisor of equipment conditions and areas of improvement. The Shear Tag Operator will learn different facets of the Rolling Mill operator roles, routinely performing multiple operating roles in more than one area of the Rolling Mill. Some travel may be required to observe the process at our other mills such as Mesa, AZ or Seguin, TX. Successful candidates will have a strong safety mindset and a desire to learn.This position works on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, which involves rotation between day and night shifts. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your career and be a part of building something new, this is the job for you!Essential Functions and Responsibilities Knows current condition of tiers, cooling bed and collecting table at all times as well as knows physicals, and their relation to speed and QTBPlan for wire changes, length changes, repairs, etc. during any down timeAdhere to CMC Steel Oklahoma safety policies and proceduresMaintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease costStay organized and show attention to detail, with a "get it right the first time" mindset.Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needsAble to stand for duration of a shift, up to 12 hours; frequent walking or climbing stairsMust be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.Push and pull up to 90 lbs. and carry 50 lbs. up to 100 ft.Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, heights, and confined spaces Experience and Skill Requirements Basic computer skills such as familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.SAP experience a plusMust read, speak and understand English in verbal and written communicationForklift, Crane, or experience operating heavy machinery preferredWorks well with team members or independently; gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.Makes timely and sound decisions; uses resources wiselyAbility to recall specifics, methods, and processes.
