Performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.
Greets patients and visitors, responds to questions/concerns and directs them to appropriate location. Provides on-going communication with clinical staff regarding patient status.
Collects and enters all necessary demographic, clinical, billing and insurance information from patients or responsible parties.
Explains processes and forms to patients prior to securing signatures and ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.
Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles.
Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance precertification/authorization and provides counseling to patients or patient's representative regarding pre-service requirements and instructions.
Provides financial education to patients and family on insurance benefits and/or self-pay programs available. Explain financial liability and hospital billing process to ensure that patient's financial commitment to the institution is arranged for service provided.
Schedules patient procedures in a manner that most efficiently utilizes the patient's time and clinical resources.
Responsibilities may vary over time. Required to perform other duties as required for the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and job role.
HS or Equivalent
High School Diploma or GED is required
Computer skills a plus.
One year customer service experience required
With front desk experience in a medical setting preferred.
Medical Records experience preferred.
