SUMMARY:

Operates heavy forge machinery, furnaces, and related equipment in conjunction with material handling to molding, bending and shaping metal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate furnace and forging machinery utilizing all safety devices and following prescribed procedures. Load/unload product into and out of machine during operation cycle continuously during shift. Perform set up and adjustments on machines for various parts. Keeps work area clean and free of hazards. Performs specified inspection on parts during production to ensure quality and needed machine adjustments. Works with production, engineering and quality personnel to detection and resolve quality issues. Record measurements and production data on forms and in computers. Read, understand and apply print and procedural specifications during operation.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES

  • Education: High school or equivalant

  • Experience: 3 or more years operating machines in a production environment

  • Certificates and Licenses: none

  • Must be able to read, understand and apply blueprints, job/part specifications, measuring devices and tools, and various production sheets.

  • Must have an understanding of basic shop hand tools such as: grinders, measuring devices( calipers, tapes, rulers etc.), hammers, pliers, wrenches, screw drivers, punches, drill bits etc..

  • Must have basic math skills and understand basic measurement increments in decimals and fractions: 1/16, 1/8, , , 3/8: .25,.5,.75.

  • Must be able to communicate verbal and written with supervisors,management and coworkers regarding work related tasks, coordination, schedules and other job related issues.

  • Must possess strong safety attitude and ability to adhere to all safety requirements and practices

  • Meet daily production quotas
