Intro:The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) requires comprehensive worldwide information technology (IT) support to operate and maintain the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Information Enterprise (SIE). The SIE provides support from the garrison level out to forward-deployed tactical operators and sensors worldwide. In pursuit of these requirements, USSOCOM, its Component Commands, TSOCs, and deployed forces are deploying the Special Operations Forces Network (SOFNET). The deployment of SOFNET is instrumental to achieving the Commander’s Vision of a Global SOF Network providing strategic options for our national leaders and supported Global Combatant Commanders through a worldwide network that fully integrates our military, interagency and international partners with aligned structures, processes and authorities. The services provided by SITEC II will be a key enabler for over 69,700 users operating in approximately 75 countries.

Systems Manager (Enterprise Operations Lead) Job Description: An Enterprise IT Operations subject matter expert (SME) is required by USSOCOM to enhance their IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M). This individual will have superior knowledge in general IT systems engineering, as well as overall Enterprise IT Network Command and Control Operations, and be adept with major datacenter operations, and network defense. Candidate will be assigned to HQ USSOCOM, MacDill Air Force Base, FL, but may be required to perform some travel in both CONUS and OCONUS.

Responsibilities:

The Enterprise Operations Lead will work in direct support of the USSOCOM’s Enterprise Operations Branch Chief, USSOCOM J633-N. In this capacity the Enterprise Operations Lead will supervise a number of IT Crew Chiefs and tier two Systems and Network Administrators responsible for monitoring day-to-day service delivery, executing Tier three developed O&M checklists and performing Break-Fix actions. Candidate must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge in provisioning and O&M’ing all Enterprise IT Services. This includes creating effective Enterprise Operations checklists and SOPs. The Enterprise Operations Lead’s focus is maintaining situational awareness of the Enterprise operational status and ensuring there is a prompt and accurate response to performance impacting events. Additionally the Enterprise Operations Lead is responsible for ensuring the USSOCOM Enterprise Watch Officer is kept informed of the Enterprise operations status. As such, the Enterprise Operations Lead will be the focal point for day to day Operations and perform the following tasks:

  • Managing the daily operations of the Government’s support services

  • Managing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments and conducting evaluations

  • Monitoring response times, evaluating user satisfaction levels, and making recommendations for improvement

  • Evaluating and managing technical support systems’ hardware and software and making recommendations regarding upgrades or changes

  • Negotiating, writing, and reporting on internal and external service-level agreements

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: At least ten (10) years of operations and support experience plus three or more years of experience in a managerial role. Bachelor’s Degree desired.

Required Certification:

  • An MCSE or other current certification relevant to the candidate’s work area.

  • IAT Level II certification

Must have the ability to obtain TS/SCI security clearance required.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Work will be performed in a cubical environment inside a large facility. Will require some travel to CONUS and OCONUS Special Operations locations depending on requests by the customer. May be required to attend off site meetings.

Physical Requirements

Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

Equipment and Machines

General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory. Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday). Normal working hours will be day shift, 0800 to 1700, Monday through Friday.

Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
