Amgen Director Information Systems - Global Infrastructure Operations in Tampa, Florida
Amgen is seeking a Director Information Systems (IS) - Global Infrastructure Operations to join the Infrastructure Operation team and will be responsible for overseeing, directing and managing all aspects of global service delivery (outsourced, managed service providers, contingent workers and staff) related to the Amgen's technological infrastructure, including Amgen's corporate network & monitoring, operating system management, cloud services and automation, and other technology platforms. The environment includes the following platforms and services: WAN/LAN network services, Internet and Firewall Access, Remote Access Mgmt and VPN, Identity and Access / Partner Management, Windows, Citrix, VMWare, Database Services (Oracle & SQL), storage and backup, data center operations, Unix, Middleware, webhosting and clustering, etc.
The Director IS will be part of the leadership team at the Shared Services site and will report to the Executive Director Business Services based at Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. The Infrastructure Operations team is responsible for Level 1 - Level 3 support which includes services like Compute, Network, Storage, Data and Hosting.
Key Activities for the Director IS include:
Develop, oversee, direct and manage a large staff including 8+ direct reports, 90 total FTE staff and over 300 contingent workers
Oversee a large project and operating budget $100M
In partnership with key customers and service-provider partners, continuously ADVANCE Amgen's Infrastructure and associated offerings by applying best practices, and fit-for-purpose decision making
Review infrastructure service portfolio technology and services for remaining useful life and prepare plans for 'lifecycle management and refresh'
Coordinate with internal teams and service providers to ensure infrastructure service projects are planned, executed and achieve business/cost objectives
Ensure compliance with enterprise IT policy, process, procedures and controls by all staff
Ensure all servers, storage environments and data centers and related systems and tools systems have sufficient capacity to meet the current and future business needs
Provide the leadership and detailed technical expertise for the overall network, datacenter, SAN, virtualization and network design
Travel: International and Domestic travel up to 35% - short notice travel
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience
Master's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field
10+ yrs of IT operations experience, to include 5+ years-experience in managing multiple, medium to large, cross-functional teams or projects, in areas such as network design and administration, data center operations, database administration, and systems programming and administration at the Director level of similar sized organization or operating environment
3+ yrs experience in managing in a highly regulated environment (Pharmaceutical, Bio-technology, Food, Beverage, Healthcare, or related industry) fulfilling GxP and SOX requirements
5+ yrs experience providing management direction in a multi-vendor outsourced service provider environment for a similarly sized organization
Prior operational delivery experience with IT infrastructure in areas such as: data center services, server operations, Network Operations Center (NOC), telecommunications, etc.
3+ yrs experience hosting a large, global Enterprise Resource Planning System (SAP or others)
Experience building teams within a start-up and/or consulting based industry environment and previously managed Senior Managers or above and managed organizations totaling 75 resources or more in the delivery of infrastructure services
Project management, time management, and conflict resolution/management skills
Strong communications, presentation, and organizational skills
Well versed in the most current Data Center technologies including Cloud, Virtual and private computing
Advanced WAN and LAN knowledge, including Ethernet, hubs, switches, TCP/IP, and network configuration
Experience in hardware provisioning, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Thorough understanding of and experience in network design, optimization and traffic engineering
Experience with SOX and GxP compliance and in depth knowledge of security issues as they pertain to protection of Intellectual Property and Personally Identifiable Information
Excellent leadership skills, proven communication, organizational and customer-facing skills
Prior implementation experience with the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework to establish an IT Service Management environment or experience managing a third party service provider's implementation of ITIL
Prior experience implementing or managing Cloud - based service delivery (IaaS, PaaS and/or SaaS) within an enterprise
