Job Summary

Reporting to the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) Research Administration Associate Dean for Research, leads and supervises all staff performing pre-award and post-award activities for the sponsored projects research portfolio for their assigned department, division or school. Performs post-award activities in support of CEAT Research Administration. Understands and applies federal and university rules to management of effort allocation for individuals compensated completely or in part from federal awards. Applies costing rules and regulations to federally funded projects. Ensures strong levels of customer service to faculty and departments being served. Performs pre-award activities to include budget development, compiling proposal contents, entering proposal into the CEAT database and workload flow, assisting PIs in submission of routing forms, interacting with the Vice President for Research and Grants & Contracts Financial Administration offices, and assisting in the preparation of sub-award documents and relationships with other partners on a project. The RA Operations Manager Assists in data collection for the ADR in the preparation of various reports including the annual ASEE report and Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion (RPT) for individual faculty monitoring. The RA Operations Manager is responsible for applying best practices to ensure quality measures are achieved by identifying and implementing process improvements; using effective data management regarding the unit's performance; and providing excellent customer service to key stakeholders in order to establish the foundation effective for future management of individual awards and projects. The RA Operations Manager acts as a liaison with the post-award team to ensure timely and accurate transitions of various awards into the CEAT's grant system. Provides critical prioritization for proposal and awards. Trains new staff and will mentor existing staff.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Seven (7) years of work-related grants and contracts experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge of federal rules and regulations relating to research grant and/or contract activity, with specific deep understanding of the award proposal processes for multiple sponsoring bodies. Proficiency with MS Office Suite software.

Preferred Qualifications:

CRA and 10 years grant experience, and supervisory experience

Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
