Primary Purpose: performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manuallabor tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of roadways,public utilities, and other public facilities; uses hand tools. Powertools, and operates light equipment in the course of work; assists withroutine maintenance, aids in underground utility repair, works in confinedspaces that require ventilation to protect against toxic gases and fumes;inspects and troubleshoots reported issues; performs repair or constructiontasks to support the functions of a division in a City DepartmentEssential Functions: Operates a variety of light to medium construction andmaintenance equipment, as a necessary for the repair or maintenance of thewater/wastewater utility divisions; performs service and repairs as neededto maintain City owned equipment and other public facilities; minorrepairs; troubleshoot minor electrical repairs; plumbing; and cleaningshop/work areas etc. utilities appropriate department issued PPEfollowing all applicable safety rules and regulations.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Maintenance practices related to public infrastructures and grounds Small equipment and facility maintenance and repair Safety practices regarding excavation and utility maintenance Exposure to pumps, valves, motors, piping, and plumbing structuresEducation and Special Requirements:High School Completion or G.E.D. certificateSix months experience as an agriculture worker; construction laborer, ormaintenance worker in maintenance of grounds, buildings, or similarfacilities preferredMust obtain Level I Certification in Sewer Collections and/or WaterDistribution within one year of employment and maintain during employmentMust possess and maintain a State of Colorado Class B Commercial Driver sLicense with tanker endorsement.
