SUMMARY:To manage, control and plan the JIT (Just-In-Time) manufacturing activities of the production floor in order to exceed customer expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES: (not all inclusive)Launch and maintain work cells to meet and exceed customer requirementsImprove housekeeping and plant organization including plant layoutMonitor and address safety and environmental concerns on the shop floorMonitor quality issues toward our goal of zero defectsControl overtime in line with the Business PlanImprove efficiency by reducing set-up timesAssist operators in troubleshooting process, and material problemsReduce scrap; monitor key indicators for positive trendsCreate and implement Continuous Improvement suggestionsMonitor activities as assigned in accordance with 5SMonitor Manning requirements and reduce overhead as neededUnderstand and maintain state, federal or local operating permits as requiredProvide a safe and healthful work environment that is free of recognized hazards for all employees, contractors and visitorsInitiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process and systemsIdentify and record any problems relating to the product, process or systemInitiate, recommend or provide solutions through appropriate channels and verify implementationControl further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency is correctedApprove Business Operating System documentation as applicable (Process Owner)Purchase Requisition approval for Department purchasesAdvise associates, contractors and visitors of any actual or potential danger to their safety or health, and ensure the necessary training and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is providedCooperate with all local, state and federal agencies, such as OSHA or the EPA, in the event of an inspectionParticipate in audits and inspections to eliminate area safety, environmental hazards and non-conformancesEnsure employees in their area know, follow and enforce all applicable HSE Policies and ProceduresHelp manage Company Performance Measurable, safety and survey scoresDevelop strategic goals for the department and develop plans to achieve themPerform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS:High School diploma, technical and leadership training preferred but not requiredBachelor degree in an engineering or management discipline or equivalent combination of work and educationExperience in Process operation, assembly, blueprint/tool and die print reading, computer applications, electrical and mechanical maintenance helpful but not requiredSupervision, manufacturing experience, and/or management. Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive manufacturing experience of 5-10 years is strongly preferredIndividual must have ability to manage manufacturing processes through effective planning and delegationIndividual must be an excellent communicator with an excellent organizational abilityMust have thorough understanding of manufacturing operations, machine set-up and changeovers, safety, and quality issuesMust possess proficient interpersonal skills and present a positive attitude and ability to motivate employeesAbility to interpret production schedules, reports, and data stored on PCs (Personal Computers), and mainframe computer systemPossess excellent leadership abilities, organizational and communication skillsProficient computer skills. (i.e. Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, etc.) PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT:Must be able to speak, read, and write EnglishExtended standing, sitting, with some bending and reaching as well as the ability to move between facilities; ability to lift up to 50 lbs. preferredAbility to visually monitor production processes and product quality as well as safety; ability to inspect products using fixtures and precise measuring equipmentAbility to travel for extended periods of time including international travel EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:Personal Computers, telephone, facsimile, copier, office equipment; verniers, micrometers, producti
