AccessHR Operating Room RN / OR RN in Southlake, Texas

The perioperative nurse is responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating direct and indirect nursing care that is given to the surgical patient. This nursing care ranges from preoperative intervention onto postoperative evaluation. It is a practice designed to meet a patient’s needs through the nursing process, ensuring continuity of care during the surgical experience. The perioperative registered nurse may delegate certain patient care tasks to suitably trained and competent allied health providers and assistive personnel, but retains accountability for the outcome of perioperative nursing care. Those tasks which may not be delegated are assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, and evaluation.

  • Preparation of the surgical suite for the procedures which are to be performed. To include: opening sterile supplies, preparation of equipment and general paperwork which is to be performed for each case.

  • Transferring patient to the OR table.

  • Safe care of the patients during their stay in the OR according to AORN Standards.

  • Knowledge of all equipment used in the OR, Pre-Op, and PACU areas.

  • Perform surgical preps or supervise another staff member in this duty.

  • Preparation of incident reports as needed.

  • Attend workshops and staff meetings.

  • Perform duties in the Pre-op and PACU areas as needed.

  • Assist in ordering supplies and performing inventory.

  • May be required to do other related duties for which the individual is qualified

  • Position requires 1-year OR RN experience

  • Current TX Nursing License

  • Current BLS/ACLS

  • Some flexibility in schedule needed to accommodate the variances in schedule

Hours: 6-12 hours/week
