As a member of the R1 Management Team you will be responsible for the daily management and coordination of activities that include billing, follow up, and cash posting of patient accounts, employee productivity, and client relationship management for approximately 1-2 client hospitals supported in the Chicago Shared Services Center. Identifies improvements to key metrics that include but are not limited to account receivable days, cash as a percentage of net patient revenue, and operational denials. Acts as point of contact for client hospital revenue cycle supervisors, managers, and directors to identify and resolve issues.
This role will report directly to an R1 Revenue Cycle Manager within assigned department.
Your day to day role will include:
Directly manages a team of approximately 15-20 non-exempt resources who provide back-office services to 1-2 client hospitals
Participates in training/communication sessions to oversee the performance of approximately 30-40 offshore non-exempt resources who provide additional back-office support to local team
Identifies and implements processes to achieve key revenue cycle metrics including but not limited to A/R Days, Denial % of NPR, and Cash % of NPR
Identifies, understands, and communicates key metric variances and required actions to correct variances to Senior Manager.
Compiles, analyzes, and communicates performance data and associated actions plans to client Revenue Cycle management resources (Manager thru CFO Level)
Ensures staff is compliant with third party regulations and audits
Develops, implements, and oversees performance improvement plans for staff with Senior Manager's support
Responsible for the back-office revenue management of $400-600K in net patient revenue
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
Minimum 1-4 years in healthcare setting
Understands two (2) or more back office functional areas (billing, follow up, cash posting)
Self-directed and motivated to solve problems independently
Able to apply critical thinking skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Strong communication skills--Communicates objectives, issues, and action plans effectively to multiple audiences
Service oriented leadership style, focused on realizing client goals through effective people and process management
Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in accounts receivable management and Hospital business office operations
It would be great if you also have:
Facility revenue cycle experience
Advanced proficiency with tools like Excel (vlookup), Access, and Tableau
