Our Operations

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 day shift roster pattern roster arrangement.

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Production Execution – Refinery, we currently have an opportunity available for an inclusive and supportive person to join our team. In this role you will be an active team member who supports the production team through implementation of the Olympic Dam Training Management, Permit to Work and HSEC systems for employees at all levels within the area.

In this role you will:

  • Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching the team

  • Conduct training in a safe manner, ensuring relevant safe operating procedures and work instructions are incorporated into all training activities

  • Review training materials, procedures and work instructions on a regular basis

  • Develop and deliver training plans to meet area and shift competency requirements

  • Deliver training and assessment for introductory operational tasks, as well as monitor progress

  • Be the focal point to provide initial orientation and awareness for new starters in the area

  • Assist with planning, as well as ensure compliance with the Permit to Work system

  • Assist and support supervisors in the application of HSEC systems and conduct workplace inspections

About you:

  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’

  • Train Small Groups & Workplace Assessor qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment desirable, but not essential

  • Experience designing and delivering training in a similar industrial environment preferred

  • Expertise in Isolations, Permit to Work and HSEC systems
