NAES Corporation Plant Operating Engineer - Middlesex in Sayreville, New Jersey
PurEnergy LLC, a subsidiary of NAES Corporation, has an immediate opening for a Plant Operating Engineer at the Middlesex Generation Facility located at the Middlesex County Utilities Authority (MCUA) site in Sayreville, NJ.
The purpose of the Power Plant Operating Engineer (Operator) is to control, operate and maintain generation and auxiliary equipment in a manner that will ensure safety of personnel and equipment, promote high plant reliability, produce power economically and operate the generation facility in a manner to maintain the Landfill Gas Collection System goals and remain within environmental and regulatory compliance. The Operator communicates with the MCUA, JP&L;, and the Wellfield O&M; Technicians to coordinate power generation, operations & maintenance activities in keeping with safe and efficient practices. The Operator controls all plant activities during his/her shift.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Plant Engineer reports to the Plant Manager and gives direction to plant operators and assistant plant operators.
Operates and controls Power Generation and Landfill Gas processing in accordance with safe operating procedures.
Monitors plant equipment and wellfield equipment, by remote systems communication instrumentation, to ensure and/or to dispatch others to ensure reliable power generation in accordance with Purenergy LLC, and OEM, recommended policies and procedures, and as directed by management.
Starts, stops, controls, operates and maintains equipment including combustion turbines, generators, gas & air compressors, water treatment and filtration equipment, heat recovery steam generator, duct burners, steam turbine, continuous emission monitoring systems, electrical breakers, switch gear, pumps, tanks, fuel filters and other ancillary equipment.
Performs water and steam chemical analyses and adjusts chemical dosages as needed.
Performs maintenance functions alone or with others as required.
Maintains equipment and activity logs, generates work requests, procurement requests, completes work orders, writes and updates procedures, manages parts and supplies inventory, completes daily production reports and shares plant information with other Operators during shift turnovers.
Operates a company motor vehicle and/or forklift, as needed, in a safe manner.
Relies on expertise and judgment to determine, plan and accomplish goals
Responsible for leading company safety programs
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs, climb stairs, climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, work in confined spaces, wear respirator and hearing and eye protection, work outside in hot or cold, wet or dry weather, work in high noise areas, work alone or with others, work in proximity to high voltage and/or rapidly rotating equipment, work occasionally with toxic chemicals, work extended hours, weekends and holidays and emergencies as required. “On call” status will periodically be required. Participate in the Fitness for Duty Program.
High School diploma or equivalent, 6 years’ experience in the power generation or related field, two or more years of college or trades school desirable.
Must possess a valid New Jersey boiler operator’s certificate (blue card minimum) and a valid driver’s license.
