Position Summary

Under immediate supervision, responsible for performing a variety of routine operational clerical activities such as receiving, processing, reconciling, distributing or maintaining records and files following standard procedures and detailed instructions or guidelines.

Position Accountabilities

  1. May balances figures, computes totals, and prepares routine accounting entries.

  2. May prepare checks for processing. May ensure acceptability of checks or other negotiable items presented for payment including comparing signatures to applicable specimen, facsimile or through signature verification system. May sort and file checks, maintaining applicable documentation/records and complying with related policies, procedures and standards.

  3. May prepare and send billings, advices, and account statements on various products and services.

  4. May prepare various activities such as preparing banking office deposits for the image sorter; encoding deposits; processing EE bonds; transit encoding; and preparing and processing special customer deposits.

  5. May balance batches with rejects received through the proof and transit system and prepare cash letters for shipment and handle a variety of duties related to balancing check processing operations.

  6. May perform mail processing duties such as meeting U.S. Postal Service requirements by weighing and metering domestic and foreign mail. May sort interoffice mail.

  7. May MICR encode, correct and balance customer checks, deposits, loan payments and other internal bank entries.

  8. May perform data entry functions or balancing functions requiring substantial key entry.

  9. Provides photocopies of bank documents as requested.

  10. Exchanges routine information and resolves problems where standard solutions are available.

  11. Assists in research and handles routine telephone inquiries.

  12. Prepares repetitive documents and reports, records data and files materials.

  13. Performs work to maintain established standards for accuracy and timeliness.

  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
