Meet the Team
The 3rd party team is a sourcing organization within Gap Inc. that handles sourcing and production management for the products within Gap Inc. that are bought from a third party vendor. We touch a variety of product categories from private label shoes and swim, to personal care/beauty, hats, jewelry and much more. Our team provides end to end support - negotiating contracts, onboarding new vendors, product development, building T&A’s, cost negotiations, and complete production management.

Do you have Beauty Category experience in:
Supporting the development of color cosmetics collections from start to finish, including vendor management, cost negotiations, product quality reviews, timeline management and creative problem solving
Managing product placement & communication between multiple vendor partners and high sku counts
Assessing product samples and levels of product quality particularly for color cosmetics
In-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process and product lead-times
Staying on top of product trends and competitive landscape
Actively participating in trend and innovation conversations in seasonal brainstorm meetings with cross functional teams
A day in the life of an Associate:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross functional teams and vendors
Partner with merchants to discuss any new strategies/growth opportunities and recommend sourcing opportunities to support the proposed plans.
Source new vendors as needed, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor base.
Work as liaison between merchants and vendors in product development.
Partner with Brand merchants and other key stakeholders to develop new processes and tools.
On board new vendors to ensure that they are clear on Gap Inc. testing protocols, shipping requirements, invoicing etc.
Build and roll-out seasonal calendars to all vendors and ensure deadlines are met.
Partner with merchandising and inventory planning team to set AUC targets for all product categories.
Influence cross functional team to ensure that product strategies are in line with financial targets.
Review all product costs from vendors and negotiate to ensure that all cost targets are met each season.
Maintain and update internal systems with product and costing information.
Analyze seasonal assortment and create comprehensive cost recaps for cross-functional teams.
Finalize cost, confirm seasonal bookings with vendors, and pass off final bookings with complete details for purchase order creation.
Ensure product integrity and safety by reviewing styles with Product Safety Regulations team, sending test requirements to vendors, and analyzing failed test reports. Communicate exceptions to vendors and cross-functional team.
On-going communications with vendors to ensure alignment (i.e. track deliveries, update purchase orders, address quality concerns, etc.)
In-season management - review production schedules, negotiate discounts for delays, audit Certificate of Compliance (COC) submissions, etc.
Track all pre-production samples, review with merchants, and send approvals to vendors in timely manner.
Quarterly store visits to audit product assortment and ensure quality consistency.
Maintain and update general spreadsheets and documents as necessary.
Complete other projects as needed and as time permits.

Do you have what it takes?
Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience in product development, production, or sourcing roles
Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in Beauty, specifically Color Cosmetics but Fine Fragrance, Body Care, Skincare and Cosmetics Accessories experience also would be a plus.
Understanding of the product development life cycle, including timeline management, production complexities and component needs. A passion for Beauty a plus!
Proficient computer skills, specifically Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management software a plus.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written skills
Experience working with vendors or manufacturers
Excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to quickly adapt to change
General understanding of retail math and/or comfortable with numbers
Ability to interpret shifting business strategies
Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to learn about new product categories quickly
Demonstrated ability to effectively handle issues and challenging situations
