The Operations Program Manager (OPM) at ViaSat is the key leader of integrated production program teams. The OPM is accountable to the Business Area Program Managers to ensure timely delivery of products to customers. By providing day-to-day direction to a cross functional team including representatives from New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing, quality assurance, production planning, test engineering, and purchasing, the OPM manages all aspects of production program requirements. The OPM works closely with the NPI engineer to ensure production readiness and that key risk mitigation factors for ViaSat are identified and addressed. The OPM interfaces heavily with supply chain and external Suppliers to understand progress, provide direction, and resolve production issues. The OPM leads and directs regular operations core team meetings for the products they manage, attends and reports at program reviews, and translates product line forecasts into specific, executable plans for our internal and external Manufacturing facilities. In general, the OPM is the focal point of contact for any production program and he/she bridges numerous gaps and interactions between business functions while reporting status to both Business Area and Operations Senior Management.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience supporting electronics hardware manufacturing (new product design and introduction, manufacturing engineering, outsourced manufacturing supplier management, and project/program management)

  • Ability to lead a complex project with Operations focus from new product development through fulfillment of mature products

  • Experience with offshore high volume, outsource manufacturing strategies

  • Experience working in an international supply chain

  • Ability to comprehend production test strategies and drive optimization of test through Test Engineering resources.

  • Superior organization and communication skills

  • Ability to analyze, communicate, and act to mitigate risk

  • Ability to implement, track, and manage cost controls to meet negotiated cost reduction objectives.

  • Ability to lead a matrixed, cross-functional team to achieve desired schedule, cost, and quality targets

  • Competency in project and/or team management.

  • Strong PC literacy with competency in MS Office, project management, and product collaboration

  • Bachelor’s in a technical discipline (hardware oriented EE, ME or IE) or Bachelors with 2+ years of electronics manufacturing experience.

  • US Government position. US citizenship required

  • Up to 20% domestic and international travel

Preferences

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Master of Science in technical discipline

  • Outsourced, full-turnkey production experience in a Direct-Order-Fulfillment(DOF) model

  • ERP software tools with strong preference for Oracle experience

  • Speaks Mandarin and/or Cantonese
