Job Overview Qualcomm's Open Source Portal works with internal and external groups to manage their use of open source and third party software. The Portal team is a multi-disciplinary team with a variety of experience and skills. Your responsibility will be to support the applications and systems that Qualcomm depends on for our software licensing compliance and IP protection.
Your tasks will include administration and scripting activities in a linux environment, frequently use SQL to review data to troubleshoot, write complex SQL queries to mine data from the database either for troubleshooting, for generating metrics or for building custom reports, work with IT/release engineering to investigate issues in SCM environments and provide direct user support to our compliance and legal teams for integration or UI issues. You will interact directly with end-users and stakeholders to resolve problems, provide information to the internal team and follow up with customers to provide support. You will be required to learn and understand the workflows and process in place for Qualcomm scanning and compliance review work in order to effectively support the internal and external teams.
Expected to communicate via telephone, email and web-based applications across the globe to ensure the resolution of issues, and document progress and conversations along the way.
Minimum Qualifications 5+ years experience in an operational, support or systems administration role with strong SQL skills.
3+ years experience in the following areas:
UNIX/LINUX (Ubuntu or RedHat) administration
Writing shell scripts (Bash, Powershell) and/or scripts using languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl
Source control tools like Git/GitHub, SVN and Perforce.
Ticketing systems such as Bugzilla, Redmine, Jira
1+ years experience in a technical role, supporting expert users on a custom web based application.
Experience with automated deployment tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible would be highly regarded.
Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and be able to work independently with little supervision.
Strong analytic, communication and problem-solving skills.
Detail oriented and able to document your troubleshooting and resolutions accurately and thoroughly.
Education Requirements Bachelors Degree minimum or equivalent experience
