CANYON PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION, INC. Construction Heavy Equipment Operator in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Position Summary Seeking dedicated people with the desire to learn and build a career while exceeding the highest quality and safety standards. Operators are assigned to a crew to install or replace natural gas pipelines underground. Duties involve physically demanding construction general labor while operating specialized vehicles and earth movers. Operators move earth, equipment, tools and materials safely into place. Standard Position Tasks • Operate track hoe, backhoe, side boom, loaders, skid steers • Using a hand shovel, dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage • Load and unload equipment and materials • Daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections • Keeping daily log • Preforming regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors Specialty Tasks • Operator will be trained on the following: backhoe, trencher, HDD, paver, track hoe, track loaders, hydro-hammer, crane, hydro-excavator, dozer, milling saw, dump truck, skid-steer, road grater, man-lift, snow plow, boom Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of underground utilities and locator markings • Skill to operate equipment in close proximity to workers and underground utilities • Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times • Ability to think clearly no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence • Ability to comprehend and communicate specific directions in English to ensure the safety of all • Desire to learn and commitment to working safely Education and Experience • 5 years' experience operating heavy equipment Physical and Environmental Demands • Ability to tolerate work in the extremes of weather without complaining is essential • Distinguish safety colors with 20-20 eyesight using corrective lenses if necessary • Ability to speak and hear worksite safety instructions • Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling • Ability to work with a heightened awareness within the “red zone” of heavy equipment • Ability to stand for long periods (up to 14 hours at a time) • Quick and accurate hand-eye coordination to work safely • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice Post-Hire Requirements • Maintain OSHA certifications • Maintain satisfactory safety record • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards • Provide own work boots and prescription safety glasses (as needed) • Other appropriate personal protective and safety equipment will be supplied by the company • Pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens • Provide US work authorization documents • In-state driver's license with no more than 3 moving violations and no DUIs within a two year rolling period • Satisfactory Criminal History Check • Hold-obtain and maintain DOT medical card • Pass all qualification tests Provided Training and Benefits • OSHA certification training • Working safely training • Natural gas technologies training • Heavy equipment operation training • Professional Development • Employee Assistance program benefit • Work Boot Allowance • Health Insurance Plan benefit
