Operations Controller Department:SAL Corporate Finance Location:Salem, NJJOB OPPORTUNITY - Operations Controller POSITION AVAILABLE: Operations ControllerDEPARTMENT: Salem FinanceEEO JOB GROUP: ProfessionalFLSA STATUS: ExemptREPORTS TO: VP of Financial Planning and ReportingPOSITION SUMMARY: The Operations Controller is responsible for all product costing and analysis for both the Residential US and Commercial US Business Units. This position manages the associates who design and deliver relevant, actionable cost analysis and reporting. The individual must be able to effectively interact and communicate across multiple functions in the organization, cooperating and building consensus to drive results. The Controller will plan, prioritize, and manage workload in an environment of competing priorities to support timely, sound business decisions. The position will require approximately 25% travel to various plant locations to work directly with the local plant controller and plant management.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop annual product cost budgets for each profit center. Coordinate review meetings and lead overall cost discussionsEnsure accurate standard product costs are being maintained in SAP Financial SoftwareDrive company-wide cost reduction initiativesReview daily, weekly, and period-end variances, including analysis of significant deviations from standard costWork closely with plant management and plant controllers to identify key department cost driversResponsible for a timely period-end close process for both the Commercial and Residential US Hard Surface profit centers. Provide overall plant variance summary to senior management with appropriate commentaryManage and review manufacturing variance forecasts in conjunction with plant management. Verify forecasting software (TM1) is updated correctlyEnsure all applicable balance sheet accounts are reconciled and reviewedAssist the Plant Controllers in the identification of potential cost savings projectsReview financial analysis used to support capital expenditures and other proposed projectsDevelop an in-depth knowledge of the factory operations at all locationsEnsure plant controllers are providing superior cost analysis to their respective plant managersUnderstand, develop, and modify (as needed) reporting systems used in the collection and analysis of various cost data (efficiencies, yields, downtime, etc)JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or BusinessCPA/CMA certificates and advanced degree are a plusA minimum 5-8 years of Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; general accounting experience with additional background in cost will be consideredExcellent PC skills required (Excel, PowerPoint, Windows environment, etc)Knowledge of SAP a plusWorking knowledge of product cost budgeting and variance forecastingThe ability to interact effectively with many levels of management and different peer groups throughout the organization. This includes but is not limited to Plant Management, Operational Excellence, Supply Chain, General Accounting, and Product ManagersMust possess a high degree of flexibility and demonstrate the ability to perform numerous assignments concurrentlyProven knowledge of the principles of cost accountingExcellent root cause analysis skills, with the ability to develop and implement corrective action plans to address the identified issuesDemonstrated ability to design financial and non-financial measurements and key performance indicators (KPI's) to help drive improved business performanceMust be available to travelMannington is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
