Town of Richmond Hill Facility Operator l - Arenas in Richmond Hill, Ontario

(40 Hour Work Week)

Schedule: Friday to Tuesday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM

Reporting to the Supervisor, Arena Operations, you will be responsible for facility operations maintenance related to arenas. You will oversee the facility to ensure programs/events run as scheduled and will be responsible for the security and safety of the facility and its patrons. Also, you will assist with shift coverage and annual shut down maintenance. In addition, you will operate and monitor facility operation systems and record readings; delegate and assign job duties to part time facility maintenance staff; assist with training and supervision of part time staff; assist with ice removal and replacement including leveling and painting ice surface, the operation of ice resurfacer and/or specialized equipment such as edger, scissor lift, swing machines; perform general cleaning of the facility; remove snow and salt entrance areas when required; set-up and takedown activities related to programs and events; respond to requests from patrons and other Richmond Hill staff, and perform other duties as assigned. A flexible rotating schedule will be implemented including nights and weekends and this position will participate in on-call rotation.

You possess a High School diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum three years of experience with refrigeration and HVAC plant, ice making and flooding methods, water quality testing and balancing techniques as well as facility maintenance. A Class B Refrigeration Certificate and a Propane Handling Certificate are required and you are a Certified Ice Technician. You are a team player with good communication and customer service skills. Possession of a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and access to a vehicle for use on corporate business are essential (mileage compensated); the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance. Current Standard First Aid/CPR and AED Certificates, Fall-arrest training, Scissor lift training and WHMIS training are required. You have a working knowledge of MS Office and ActiveNet or Class Facility Booking system. Completion of the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) Building and Maintenance Operations Course would be considered an asset. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide Human Resources with a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check within one month of hire. The shifts and hours are subject to change at management’s discretion in accordance with the (C.U.P.E.) Collective Agreement. This position is a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E.).
