Cloud Operations Engineer

Preferred Qualifications

Oracle’s Cloud Operations – PaaS group is

looking for talented Cloud Operations Engineers with expert level experience in

supporting systems built on a mix of Oracle technologies and Open Source

technologies. As a contributing member of a globally distributed

team, you will be responsible for the deployment and support of internally

developed services/applications supporting the various PaaS

portfolios. This is a unique, ground floor opportunity to work on

cutting edge platforms in support of Oracle’s growing Cloud Services.

Key Responsibilities:

Ø Operational Level 2 ownership of run-time

management functions for Oracle PaaS External Compute Services ensuring the

highest levels of availability and performance for customer service levels.

Ø Operational ownership in the support of

escalated issues from Oracle Customer Support working to resolve customer

issues using Oracle PaaS services.

Ø Collaborate with other operational and

development teams during triage and resolution of operational issues.

Ø Document common problem patterns and create

knowledge base articles to improve customer self service capabilities and

resolution times.

Ø Open and track development bugs related to My

Oracle Support (MOS) Service Requests.

Ø Handle customer escalations and provide Level 2

support.

Required Skills:

Ø 5 years of experience supporting production

environments on Linux/Java/Oracle Database platforms.

Ø Previous experience in large scale Incident and

Problem Management (ITIL based operational model) highly desirable.

Ø Strong ability to analyze and solve operational

problems across functional components.

Ø Strong ability to understand virtual cloud

architectures and layered application and database services with the ability to

logically determine root cause of an issue.

Ø Exposure to virtualization concepts and

technologies like Oracle Virtual Machines or Xen is highly desirable.

Ø Willingness to learn new technologies.

Ø Desire to provide

exceptional customer support.

Preferred AdditionalSkills:

Ø Prior experience as a Cloud Operations Engineer

or DevOps Engineer.

Ø Certification(s) in a Linux administration in

any distribution.

Ø Experience with large scale customer support

systems and processes (e.g. service request systems such as MOS, CX, Remedy)

Ø Experience with large scale system management

and monitoring tools (e.g. Oracle Enterprise Manager, Kibana, Logstash, Real

User Experience Insight (RUEI), ThousandEyes)

Comfort with collaboration, open communication

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Perform performance trend analysis and manage the server/network capacity. Propose client configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system. Work with others to define, coordinate vendor purchase needs. Responsible for support documentation as well.

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
