GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This position prepares, performs and analyzes actuarial studies and processes. Apply actuarial techniques and statistical analysis to at least one of several functions such as insurance premium and pricing development, claim trend analysis, experience studies, medical economics analysis, profitability analysis, wellness studies, predictive modeling, and claim reserving.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare studies, analyses, and presentations to allow management to make informed business decisions for both internal and external customers.

  • Establish quality control processes around all work, analysis, and models. Continually enhance their company and industry knowledge to apply appropriate reasonableness checks.

  • Propose and develop improvements to existing processes that align with the goals and objectives of the department and company.

  • Pull, summarize, and analyze data from internal databases.

  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and actuarial professional standards.

  • Perform ad hoc actuarial projects and other duties as assigned or requested.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

  • Other tasks as required.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 1 - 3 years of relevant, progressive experience in the area of specialization

Preferred

  • In the process of pursuing actuarial exams or be willing to pursue exams in order to obtain Associate or Fellowship status in the Society of Actuaries

  • Possesses and applies a broad and in-depth knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices and processes of the specific field or discipline. Possesses significant expertise to complete complex assignments and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems. Makes decisions that refine and improve known practices or develops new approaches

  • Assignments are broad in scope and require depth of knowledge as well as ingenuity and originality. Solves complex problems often taking a new perspective using existing solutions
