Primary Purpose of the Job
The Operating Materials Category Management Director leads and develops the Operating Materials Category Management Procurement Organization. The overall goal is to achieve the best total cost position for all external spend within the Global Category, the lowest sourcing risks, best supplier performances and ensuring highest efficiency and effectiveness of the Category Management team.
The Director ensures the optimal collaboration of the Category Management organization with GBU procurement and Regional Procurement to achieve best procurement results.
The Director is directly responsible for the entire assigned Category Management function.
The Director drives the Category management team and function to world-class level by establishing the following on global level: Best-in-class procurement processes and policies and utilization of state-of-the-art procurement IT systems and tools.
Major activities/Key challenges
Responsible for Operating Materials Category Management functions of the Category Group
Directly responsible for Arconic spend within the Category (worldwide demand/cross Groups and BUs)
Ensures that all Procurement targets are met worldwide with regards to Procurement Categories
Manages, coaches, and leads the Operating Materials team
Manages the Operating Materials team budget
Ensures the execution of best-in-class Procurement strategies, including, but not limited to Procurement Engineering & Low Cost Country Sourcing strategies
Developing a Global category strategic map and an implementation roadmap
Maintains business relationship to lead representatives of strategic suppliers for category
Leads, co-leads, or supports commercial sourcing activity across all categories as required to meet company objectives (e.g. e-Auction, RfX processes)
Leads, co-leads, or supports non-commercial events as required to meet objectives, including, but not limited to Kaizen workshops, Working Capital/Inventory Workshops
Responsible for contract negotiations/Terms and Conditions with suppliers classified in category
Execute supplier and cost management system/metrics for assigned suppliers and demonstrate continuous improvement.
Negotiate commodity contracts to meet resource units' quality and cost goals while insuring that all Corporate contracting requirements are met.
Collaborate in cross-functional efforts to reduce costs, standardize materials/components/commodities, and adapt new supplier technologies.
Resolve commercial issues associated with supplier performance issues, and cost recovery for quality problems and rework.
Within their assigned commodity area, assist in strategy, sourcing, negotiation, contract preparation, implementation and contract administration.
Minimum Years of Experience:
Multicultural work experience
Multi/bilingual (French or German)
Project Management Experience

Minimum Travel Required:
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
•Minimum of eight years’ prior work experience in category management or strategic sourcing within industrial manufacturing or chemical production.
•Minimum of three years’ prior work experience involving international purchasing.
•Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
•This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
