Position Description :

The Intra-Operative Nurse for the Ambulatory Surgery Facility at Penn Medicine University City will be responsible for various duties including, but not limited to:

  • Surgical care for patients.

  • Flow of Operating Room

  • Gathering equipment and supplies

  • Turning over rooms for next cases

The Clinical Nurse operates as the primary and/or associate nurse within the professional practice model demonstrating the core values of the UPHS to ensure an excellent patient experience.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Graduate of a NLN approved school of professional nursing.

  • BSN Required

  • BLS Required

  • Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Minimum of 18 months of work experience as a registered nurse.

  • Recent perioperative nursing experience preferred.

Outpatient surgery is performed at The Surgery Center, located on the fifth floor of Penn Medicine University City.

The Center boasts six brand new operating rooms equipped with the latest surgical and video technology that enable our care teams to deliver the very best patient care. It offers many amenities such as an in-house pharmacy to fill prescriptions before discharge, convenient parking and a staff that has been trained to focus on the patient and family's needs.

The surgeons, nurses and staff of the Center are focused on providing minimally invasive orthopaedic, gastrointestinal, urological, and ear, nose and throat procedures that can be appropriately managed in an outpatient facility. The surgeons are all Penn Medicine faculty who are pioneers in their fields, using the latest techniques and procedures that enable them to deliver the best results to our patients.
