YRC Freight Central Dispatch Operations Coordinator in Overland Park, Kansas
The CDO Coordinator will plan, implement, and monitor actions necessary for the timely movement of YRC freight throughout the network to meet or exceed customer expectations for on-time delivery. Oversee the cost effective movement and flow of freight and drivers from one point to another.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure on-time service goals are achieved by monitoring the linehaul system and implementing actions necessary for the timely and efficient movement of freight.
Monitor and manage the repositioning of freight and drivers across the system to ensure terminals can effectively move freight.
Count drivers and loads to make sure drivers, equipment and loads are available to move freight efficiently.
Review freight flow patterns and implement actions necessary to minimize empty or partially loaded miles (including positioning extra shipments).
Utilize forecasts to develop and implement 1-3 day operating plan to keep the network fluid.
Monitor equipment availability and take action necessary to problem solve and maximize proper placement of equipment to meet business levels.
Communicate with linehaul managers and terminals to best meet their shipping needs.
Investigate shipping issues to determine a solution to ensure freight can be moved in a timely manner.
Participate in daily meetings to communicate issues, deviations to the plan along with courses of action.

High School diploma or equivalent.
Transportation industry experience.
Proven ability to think critically, analytically and problem solve.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* *
Five (5) years of experience in operations or linehaul.
Some college or equivalent training.
Complete knowledge and understanding of network operations.
Experience working in logistics.
This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
