Position Description

Position Purpose

  • Direct Purchases – Responsible for overseeing the service and ops support of lumber, paint, fasteners to 140+ service centers, and multiple new pallet manufacturers. This includes but is not limited to assuring supply with timely deliveries, while keeping inventories at efficient levels for repair materials and new pallet purchases;

  • Indirect Purchases – Responsible for operationalizing new projects and savings initiatives in the indirect space. This includes overseeing the coordination with field personnel in both the Supply Chain & Overheads areas and managing the implementation process for these new projects and initiatives.

  • Systems and Processes - Responsible for overseeing the SRM helpdesk for 200+ users across the North American business, travel assistance, supplier database, PO/GR Compliance, Provalido Administration, Supplier onboarding, Basware training, track and drive preferred supplier usage.

  • Responsible to put into place best practices, new standards and tangible and measurable operational success metrics.

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Manages team responsible for supply chain of key raw materials (lumber, paint, and fasteners) to repair and hire stock plants / suppliers across North America (US & CA)

  • Assures on time demand needs are met for raw materials and hire stock

  • Maintain optimum inventory levels of raw materials

  • Manages team responsible for implementation of Indirect Spend initiatives and projects, including coordinating with field personnel (Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, etc).

  • Establishes strong relationships with key partners across the business to enable efficient roll out of new initiatives and projects

  • Responsible for accurate forecasting of costs to business as needed

  • Business owner of a number of systems & processes that support the day to day business operation

  • SRM Helpdesk

  • Savings Tracking Administration

  • Track and Drive PO and GR Compliance

  • Assure timely invoice corrections for on time vendor payments

  • Support Procurement COE team in various projects related to Policy, Compliance and P2P System Development

  • Reporting as needed


  • Team performance management

  • Responsible for direct costs versus budget

  • Responsible for days of supply for raw materials

  • Responsible for supply assurance at service centers

Authority/ Decision Making

  • Manages 6 FTE’s in all aspects of hiring, development and performance management

  • 5 FTE’s in USA

  • 1 FTE in Canada

  • Works in the Global procurement organization and supports the CHEP US and Canada businesses

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Master / MBA preferred

  • CPPM, CPSM, SCMP or other procurement certification desirable.


  • 3-5 years procurement or supply chain experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong planning & organizational skills

  • Solid understanding of Financial concepts

Languages Essential: English; Desirable: Spanish
