Aim and Purpose

  • Manage the League Operations for the Madden Championship Series which includes maintaining the MCS ruleset, scheduling resources, and resolving competitor disputes and disciplinary matters.


  • Increase engagement in-game for all Madden players

  • Increase competitor satisfaction

  • Provide great service and training to partners of EA who are involved in running sanctioned tournaments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with Madden Competitive Gaming Commissioner to design the yearly competitive structure, schedule, and milestone moments with all Madden players in mind.

  • Manage the tournament operations of online and live events by establishing repeatable process and best practices.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships within the CGD and other internal studio teams to secure required support for live and online event executions.

  • Forge meaningful relationships with 3rd party tournament organizers and online communities to gather feedback, identify needs, and inform them of guidelines and obligations.

  • Ensure that the Madden Championship Gaming ruleset is comprehensive, clear, and consistently applied across all sanctioned tournaments.

  • Interpreting and explaining rules verbally and in written format to resolve competitor disputes and provide insights to the spectators.

  • Assist in the technical configuration of online tournaments and creation of associated content.

  • Inform feature development and event management decisions when required.

  • Provide feedback on game balance and system designs to improve the experiences of competitive players.


  • A motivated self-starter with 3+ years experience in managing eSports programs, teams, or tournaments.

  • A comprehensive understanding of competitive experiences from the perspective of both a competitors and organizers at live and online events.

  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong technical documentation ability and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel).

  • An understanding of the pros and cons of tournament formats, online ranking systems (elo, glicko2, trueskill), and tiebreaker logic.

  • Ability to understand and use (when necessary) technical designs and systems to collaborate with the Madden CG development and content teams (e.g. SQL, reporting systems such as Tableau)

  • Experience in quickly resolving disputes and applying judgement calls to complicated rule scenarios in high pressure situations.

  • Strong organizational, planning and inter-personal skills; with an ability to succinctly, articulate complex scenario in an understand manner for key stakeholders.

  • Passion for EA titles and other sports and entertainment experiences

  • An understanding of Madden and NFL football rulesets and competitive culture.

  • Ability to travel several times per month to events (mostly US; potential for international travel).
