Job Summary:

Primarily responsible for planning, organizing,

directing, controlling, and overseeing the activities and personnel of the

receiving, inventory, and distribution functions for a given facility/region.

Maintains a cost effective and efficient materials system to insure that

necessary supplies are available at each facility when and where they are

needed, and that they are appropriately accounted for. Responsible for managing

shipping and receiving, storage, distribution, and patient charging of

equipment and supplies throughout the given facility/region. Responsible for

maintaining and reporting accurate inventories. Develops and implements

strategies, policies, and procedures to reduce supply costs while ensuring

quality primarily through the facilitation of value analysis teams.

Essential Duties:


Ensures department comply with established policies,

quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control

policies and procedures


Selects, orientates, and assigns department staff

(either directly or through subordinate supervisors)


Develops standards of performance, evaluates

performance, and initiates recommendations for personnel actions (either

directly or through subordinate supervisors)


Prepares and submits department budget and ensures

that the department operate within that budget


Promotes improvement efforts throughout organization

to streamline processes, optimize financial performance, and identify areas of

general inefficiency


Communicates supply chain initiatives and progress to

supply chain management, facility leadership, and local supply chain


Participates in required meetings and attends/serves

on professional/civic service organizations as a hospital representative

Required Bachelor's Degree in related discipline; Master's Degree strongly preferred

Required Minimum Experience


of seven (7) years’ experience in Supply Chain within a health care facility

system or other relevant experience

of Microsoft Word, Project, Access, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint


written and oral communications skills

PREFERRED Education and/or Experience


management and/or project management preferred. Change Management and

Leadership (LEAD) experience required within first year. Incumbents in his

job will be grandfathered into educational requirements
