Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Operates encapsulation machine and controls the amount of product from hopper into capsules.

  • Dumps product into hopper, using scoops, starts machine.

  • Ensure quality of finished product. Remove defects, splits, tucks, etc.

  • Light maintenance of machine. Requires breakdown and disassembly of machine parts for cleaning and product changes. Re-assembly of machine for product changes or shift change. Notifies maintenance of delays or malfunctions.

  • Must contribute to department team incentive goals. Team incentive goals and rewards are based on productivity, in both quantity and quality of work and the accuracy to which the job and/or process is completed. Each team member is dependent upon the contribution level of his/her co-worker.

  • Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in machine operation.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a current Food Handlers Permit.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.

  • The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.

  • May be exposed to considerable noise from machinery.

  • May be required to wear a respirator due to dusty environment.
