OPERATOR: Works directly under the tool pusher. Responsible for work and training of the crew and operation of the rig. Controls power hoisting equipment to pull casing, tubing, and pumping rods from oil and gas wells for repair and to lower repaired equipment, testing devices, and servicing tools into well: Attaches cable clamp to top of pump rod or casing and starts winch or hydraulic jack that raises rod or casing. Disconnects sections of rod or casing, using hand and power wrenches and tongs. Runs packer (plug device) into well to control flow of oil, water, or gas during well-pulling operations. Lowers swabber into well to clear mud from screens at bottom of well and to establish flow of oil. Lowers pressure-recording device into well and interprets charts. Lowers special tools into well to fish for broken rods and tubing and to scrape paraffin and incrustations from casing or tubing. Plugs well with cement CEMENTER, OIL WELL, Tests pipe for leaks, using hydraulic-testing equipment. May drive truck equipped with portable hoisting equipment. May be designated according to type of equipment used as Hydraulic Oil-Tool Operator. When a Operator is not needed on a rig his responsibilities are but not limited to working on the yard which consist of general upkeep and cleaning of all yard and shop facilities and offices. Must work for safety as a team! Must know his/her job and stay constantly alert to what is going on Use PPE, use proper tools, and learn to foresee and prevent accidents and use stairs and ladders as intended. DERRICKMAN : This position primarily responsible for working on a workover rig in a derrick above the ground approximately 50'-105' feet for guiding tubing, instruments and tools into the well. He must always be watching and maintaining proper well control, the rate of circulation and performing preventative maintenance. The Derrickhand has to be able to identify and avoid potential problems and is responsible for the operations of the pump truck, moving the rig, setting up and tearing down the rig, as well as assists in training junior crew members. This position is also considered a lead hand. FLOORHAND: A floorhand's primary responsibility is working on a workover rig and/or working in the yard. Floorhands are part of a 3-5 person workover rig crew that performs services on oil and gas wells. Assists in rigging up and down, pulling/laying down rods, tubing and casing. Floorhand rigs up/down guy wires, hydraulic jack, pads/boards and emergency gear, in addition to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, also is responsible for making sure that all of the equipment is in proper working order, which includes cleaning, greasing, fueling, fixing and changing oil. Floorhands assists other crew members as required and report to the operator.
