Chewy Finance Manager - Operations Finance in Ocala, Florida

Our Opportunity:

Chewy.com seeks to fill a Finance Manager – Operations Finance role on our Finance team located in Ocala, FL. This is a key position as we scale the company’s operations and expand our market presence. As the company continues to grow at a rapid pace, this role within the Finance organization represents a key building block in Chewy’s enterprise performance management and profitability improvement efforts. As FM – Operations you will be located in one of our fulfillment centers working with functional leaders to enhance and manage the company’s forecast and budget capabilities, improve our ability to forecast and manage financials and business decisions, and establish successfully repeatable processes and reports.

What You’ll Do:

  • Consistent pursuit of continuous improvement in all areas of the business (with special focus on Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance areas)

  • Lead and participate in Operations improvement initiatives and analysis

  • Lead short to medium term Operations labor planning

  • Development and tracking of costs and benefits for wide range of initiatives, including assumptions-based project plan

  • Actively participate in the strategic planning, target setting, and annual planning processes, and perform risk and opportunities analysis versus business outlook

  • Collaborate with various teams (e.g. Supply Chain, Operations, Accounting) to improve data quality and speed to reporting. Ensure performance is accurately reported

  • Collaborate with finance and accounting on activities and oversee fulfillment costs

  • Recommend, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability

  • Lead a “learn by doing” environment by engaging with on-the-floor associates and managers to promote and encourage continued customer focus

  • Oversee the network’s weekly and monthly close processes, the planning, forecasting, and reporting models while driving their continuous innovation and communication to both operations team \u0026amp;amp; other business partners

  • Work with data providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely

  • Proven expertise evaluating, analyzing quickly and creating meaningful reports that lead to improved business results

  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationship amongst your business partners – influencing decisions across various regions. Uncovering core issues using data, then assist, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect costs in their sites or region and create new mechanisms as they are needed

  • Proven ability to lead teams with competing priorities \u0026amp;amp; providing level-headed guidance during unexpected events

  • Expertise collecting, analyzing and managing quantitative data and creating meaningful reports to lead business improvement and cost reductions

  • Root cause analysis and uncovering core issues using data, then assisting the FC improve and create new measures for site productivity

  • Recommend, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability

  • Manage the development of all weekly and monthly financial close, all planning, forecasting, and reporting models and their continuous innovation and communicating to your Operations partners

  • Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely

  • Continuous improvement of team’s processes, deliverables, and timeline, including developing, automating, and maintaining regularly used reports

  • Support Operations on Capital Appropriation Request process, including financial analysis, cost/benefit tracking, and business case development

What You’ll Need:

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Finance, Business, or Marketing degree required; MBA a plus

  • Fulfillment, distribution center, industrial manufacturing, or operations experience

  • 4+ years related experience (Operations, Finance, logistics) and strong grasp of finance fundamentals

  • Strong analytical and modeling skills, and experience in supporting business case development, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced MS Office Suite skills; required proficiency in Excel

  • Ability to think creatively, work independently and part of a team to solve problems given limited resources and time, have a strong work ethic, and adhere to deadlines

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities

  • Ability to manage and deliver on competing projects and requests from all levels of the organization

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Bonus:

  • Experience with financial systems (NAV, Hyperion)

  • Advanced skills with relational databases (e.g. Access, SQL)

  • Working knowledge of Visual Basic

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, MicroStrategy)
