Tetra Tech is seeking a Treatment Plant Operator to work as part of a team on environmental related tasks in Henderson, Nevada. The Treatment Plant Operator will be primarily responsible for the operation, maintenance and monitoring of a sediment washing treatment plant as well as a separate ion exchange water treatment plant. The successful candidate will provide the following services:
Operate, maintain, and monitor the facilities including the performance of routine maintenance and replacement of pumps, valves, solids separation and filtration units and ion exchange units;
Maintain and repair environmental control systems (instrumentation, hard relay logic controls, PLC's, SCADA, RTU's etc.);
Perform polymer dosing as appropriate to improve settling performance and liquids decanting,
Perform equipment oil replacement and equipment greasing, temperature and pressure monitoring, equipment calibrations, inspections, and maintenance/repair of control systems, instrumentation, flow meters, piping, valves, and tanks;
Implement general facility housekeeping/maintenance (e.g., stormwater removal, cleaning of work areas, equipment cleaning, etc.);
Implement all work in accordance with established standard operating procedures;
Accurately document all activities on established forms and databases;
Maintain an excellent relationship with Site personnel and contractors.
The Treatment Plant Operator must be a self-starter, detail oriented and mechanically proficient. The Operator must also possess good communication skills as daily communication with the project team regarding client schedules, system operation issues, site security issues and general site health and safety are paramount to the success of the project. This position requires selected candidate to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check and a negative drug test. The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform field work, including light lifting and maneuvering of equipment, and perform the field work in a range of weather conditions.
Familiarity and experience with water treatment systems and control systems is required. Applicant must have a minimum of 5 years of water/wastewater treatment system experience. Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to the job with speed and accuracy, and communicate effectively both orally and written.
Graduation from high school or equivalent. A bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, or environmental engineering is preferred.
