Johnson Controls Operations Controller in Nuevo León, Mexico

Primary Purpose: Lead operations finance for the product BU or region they are responsible for within the Building Technologies & Solutions organization. Responsible for providing in-depth financial planning and business analysis as it relates to global operations, and to provide senior management insight into the financial trends and operating performance for all plants within their scope. Includes assisting in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts as well as providing other forms of performance benchmarking. Develops/maintains financial models to support the Global Manufacturing Strategic Plan and ad hoc “footprint” and strategic initiatives analysis. Must be able to deal directly with Group and Division senior management.

Primary Duties: 1. Proactively work with senior global manufacturing and engineering management to optimize global manufacturing “footprint” via development of a strategic plan linked to LOB and regional growth objectives. 2. Prepare and coordinate “footprint” analyses for individual plant consolidation projects as required. 3. Proactively work with the plants to improve actual financial results consistent with operating plan commitments and objectives, especially in the areas of manufacturing continuous improvement, freight and direct material savings. 4. Develop and review monthly financial results and business metrics for plants. Proactively identify business improvement opportunities and either implement them or communicate them to management for implementation. 5. Identify manufacturing best business practices and facilitate the propagation of these practices throughout the locations. Review and maintain integrity of performance data for CI, BBP and other key measures for the business. 6. Provide leadership, training and direction to the regional or plant controllers to improve their financial and business skills so they can effectively manage their business. 7. Review key balance sheet reserves for inventory, warranties, accounts payables, etc. monthly and identify and communicate forecast risks and opportunities as appropriate. Ensure reconciliations of key accounts (inventory, accrued A/P, etc.) are performed on a monthly basis. 8. Periodically review key SOX control matrices for each responsible plant to assure Company internal control compliance is maintained. 9. Review and understand Building Technologies & Solutions finance policies for inventories (standard costs, excess and obsolete, etc.), fixed assets, warranties, etc. and insure accounting is being performed in a manner that is consistent with established policy. Assist the development and implementation of BT&S accounting policies where appropriate. 10. Supports the strategic planning, annual budgeting and forecasting process for the operating locations. 11. Coordinate the preparation, review and approval of regional CAR’s through global manufacturing management, inclusive of project “post mortems” after project completion. 12. Provide support for deployment and enhancement of IT financial and business systems. 13. Provide backup to plant controller duties, as required. 14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
