A-dec, Inc. Engineering Operations Supervisor - Electrical Systems in Newberg, Oregon
The Engineering Operation Supervisor (Electrical Systems) manages, directs, coaches and supports engineering professionals and other development of team members. This position will focus on the management and execution of assigned team projects and schedules pertaining to product development and sustaining engineering activities. The Engineering Operations Supervisor will also plan, oversee and execute projects of his/her own.
Successfully execute technical strategy as directed. Ensure department goals are efficiently and effectively met from project initiation through product launch; continue support through product changes through lifecycle based on business need.
Respond to business needs through collaboration and coordination. Motivate diverse cross-functional teams including other engineering disciplines, quality, manufacturing, sales, marketing and customer service to to achieve positive business results.
Assure all tests are administered in adherence to established quality or performance metrics and delegates the investigation of design problems; provides recommendations and implements solutions.
Develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures for engineering and assure technical regulatory compliance. Remains current with new technology and engineering processes to allow continuous improvement throughout the operation.
Oversee and support departmental budgets, projects, research, expenses, and capital AFE submittals, reviews, approvals. Participates in analyzing technology, resource needs and market demand to plan and assess project feasibility.
Determine project assignments, schedules and deliverable deadlines within defined timeline. Works closely with product development teams (e.g. Engineering & Product Management) to achieve goals.
Guide and mentor team members in the utilization of project management and engineering fundamentals. Promotes cooperation, creativity, teamwork, good communication and worker satisfaction.
Accomplishes staff results by hiring, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results to ensure department goals are met, and promoting employee personal growth and development. Responsible for direct reports and accomplishing work through outside resources (i.e., consultants, contractors)
Contributes to an environment of self-sustaining, continuous improvement consistent with corporate objectives by participating in activities designed to improve throughput times and eliminating waste in a manner that is measurable and provides value to the product and/or service that is delivered.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s in engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience, with a minimum of 5 years relevant product development experience.
Generally possess over 5 years of relevant professional or technical engineering experience, of increasing responsibility and difficulty of assignments.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and graphical form.
Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Demonstrates ability to supervise engineering and technical personnel.
