Samsung Ads operates at the intersection of digital advertising and connected televisions. We offer advertising solutions with the goal of helping our advertisers reach their target audiences across our native TV platform, linear programming and digital environments leveraging our unique first party data. This is a 2+ year old initiative at Samsung with heavy investment from corporate and the potential for massive growth and future opportunity. The Samsung Ads team is looking for a Senior Director to lead Business Development and drive partnership revenue for the business team. This role will be directly supporting the Vice President of the Business for identification and realization of attractive revenue generating opportunities. The role will be accountable for driving specific revenue targets and potentially create new products or businesses in collaboration with the Product, Engineering, and Marketing, Sales, Finance and Legal teams. This is a strategic role and is responsible for helping grow Samsung Ads partnerships across several functions: Business Development, Agencies and New Initiatives. Ideal candidates must have some level of experience and interest in television data and possess a combination of critical thinking and strategic sales skills. Candidates must also possess outstanding communication skills and be willing to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment housed in a large multinational corporation. This role has the opportunity to influence the direction of the product roadmap as well as collaborate deeply with the sales/marketing and operations organizations.

Specific responsibilities Include:

  • Team leadership This is a leadership role that will absorb the management of a team of four to five. The role will be a part of the Direct Leadership team on the staff of the Vice President.

  • Business Development Source, define, negotiate, and execute strategic revenue generating opportunities. These activities will include but not limited to: data, research, market and competitive analysis, partner needs assessment and more importantly executing on these initiatives.

  • Product Strategy Leverage understanding of current and future state of market to bring relevant business development opportunities to integrate into our product suite.

  • Partnership Development Identify, build, and manage long-term relationships with strategic partners in pursuit of revenue generating growth opportunities. Initiate and complete proposals, presentations, negotiations and legal/licensing agreements with identified partners. Attend market based events and conferences to strengthen network and to evangelize the Samsung Smart TV Ads business and products.

  • Cross Device Revenue Growth Manage a small team of cross device specialists to assist sellers in the marketplace to sell and service our cross device product. That team also identifies inventory/supply opportunities and manages data agreements with third parties.

Necessary Skills / Attributes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of business development experience with a deep knowledge / understanding of the TV and digital advertising and ad tech space. Have worked on and executed deals in excess of $100 Million Dollars.

  • Strong written, verbal communication, presentation and analytical skills required

  • Intense and senior level negotiation experience (partnership, acquisition, or licenses)

  • Experience in the Ad Tech and Digital Ad Monetization industry / ecosystem and has engaged with entities such as Demand Side Platforms, Trading Desks, Data Providers, Exchanges and Sell Side Platforms, Broadcasters, Cable Networks, In-Stream/Video Networks, Data Providers and Mobile Networks/Carriers.

  • Ability to manage and work effectively within cross-functional and matrixed relationships

  • Strong analytical skills and strategic insight to build business cases for growth

Necessary Skills/Attributes:

  • Team management and the ability to grow a team of Business Development Professionals to drive the future growth of Samsung Ads.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence others without formal authority

  • Strong analytical skills. Experience building, evaluating and articulating complex business models

  • Read and interpret detailed product development and marketing documents, media materials, and contracts based on Samsung’s corporate legal and marketing standards and philosophy.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment. Candidates will have a strong operational mindset with a decisive “get it done” and “whatever it takes” mentality.

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and defend opinions regarding market and competitive direction along with associated impact on company strategy.

  • Excellent negotiation skills; ability to influence change, set new directions for business.

  • Demonstrated flexibility to adhere to needs of diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated competency in both oral and written communication modes for internal and external personnel at C-level’s

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and develop relationships both internally and externally.

  • Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects.
