Enterprise Risk Management works in partnership with other business and support areas to protect TIAA’s mission, financial strength and reputation through the proactive management of risk and to establish and promote a culture that supports intelligent risk taking and risk-based decision making.
The Manager, reporting to the Senior Director and Head of Corporate Center Risk, will be responsible for leading work on the Corporate Center Risk Team as the function assists the Corporate Centers which is comprised of Marketing, Human Resources, Advocacy and Oversight, Finance and Actuarial, and Enterprise Risk Management in driving a culture of proactive risk management and control accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Successfully drive a culture of risk management within the first line business leaders of the Corporate Centers and drive an environment of proactive risk and control accountability by business leaders, functions, and teams.
Leverage and adapt enterprise risk standards to the identification, measurement, monitoring and management of risk.
Identifying emerging risks and trends (both internal and external) that could have a negative impact on the ability to achieve the goals and objectives of business areas with the Corporate Centers.
Review business plans and challenge assumptions to support the reasonableness of the plans and fit with corporate strategy.
Identify and monitor key risk and performance indicators and metrics, and monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation programs and controls.
Facilitate and give input into the development and implementation of policies and procedures that are in line with corporate guidelines.
Support the implementation and ongoing use of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools within the Corporate Centers that are used by both the business and ERM.
Support the implementation of risk and control self-assessment and related processes and the optimization of the control environment.
Oversee, challenge, and/or approve risk taking by the LOB where appropriate and exceeding risk appetite.
Provide risk and performance reporting for leaders to present to specified risk committees and represent leader on said risk committees as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Previous experience providing Risk or Compliance or Internal Audit oversight in financial services is required; five plus years is preferred.
Experience providing Risk or Compliance or Internal Audit oversight to corporate functional areas (i.e. – HR, Compliance, Marketing, etc.) is preferred.
Five plus years of experience with Operational Risk Management and related concepts (i.e. vendor management risk, IT security risk, internal and external fraud risk) is preferred.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point. Knowledge of GRC Archer a plus.
