Advanced Manufacturing Operations Technician

(U.S. Citizenship Required*)

Nashua, New Hampshire


  • Builds/ Tests optical/mechanical production sub-assemblies and final assemblies in accordance with specified manufacturing processes, ensuring full conformance to specifications

  • Generates and records assembly data and documentation including product and component traceability and test data

  • Performs in process and final inspections of production products to assure conformance to quality standards, including serialization and packaging prior to shipment

  • Oversee training or train new employees in all phases of the assembly and testing process.

  • Assure that standard procedures are being followed.

  • Ascertain problem(s) for a non-conforming unit and determine appropriate rework procedure. Assign to appropriate team member for support.

  • Maintain 5S and actively seek improvements.

  • Assist engineering in identifying process improvements. Drive a culture of continuous improvement through the identification of process improvements.

  • Advanced understanding of production products, components, part prints and processes.

  • Advanced understanding of optical, mechanical and/ or electrical assemblies.

  • Advanced understanding of test equipment including inferometer, lens potting tools, thermal chambers, and vibration equipment.

  • Advanced understanding of hand tools including soldering irons, wire crimpers, torque drivers, etc.

  • Experienced working with Engineering on problem resolution.

  • Strong computer and math skills.

  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to function as a member of the manufacturing team.

  • Ability to train new employees.

  • Proficient working with engineering drawings

  • Understanding of common optical testing methods

  • MTF Testing

  • Alignment of collimators and test stations

  • Interferometry

  • TriOptic centering (or equivalent)

  • Experience handling/cleaning sensitive optical components

  • Experienced in assembly and test fixture design

  • Experienced in Manufacturing Process within the Cleanroom Environment

*U.S. Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of experience assembling opto-mechanical hardware
