ACCO Brands, one of the world’s largest suppliers of branded school and office products, with annual revenues of $1.5 billion, is seeking Machine Adjuster –Operators for our Mississauga, Ontario location. As part of the Operations team, the Machine Adjuster - Operator will lead the production activities for their assigned equipment in our Canadian manufacturing facility, part of the ACCO network of plants making industry leading products such as Hilroy, Five Star®, Swingline® and Quartet®. The overall objective of this role will be to set up, operate and adjust industrial machines that convert paper into school and office products like notebooks, pads of paper and file folders.

These are full time permanent job opportunities, with a 40 hour standard work week, competitive pay and a comprehensive pension and benefits plan.

Key duties of the role include:

  • Insert and change dies

  • Perform product changeovers

  • Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning and lubrication of machine parts

  • Complete and submit daily production records

  • Inspect products for defects to ensure adherance to company quality standards and production specifications

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at improving efficiency and maximizing production capacity

Required Skills and Experience

  • Able to speak, read and write English

  • 1-2 years of production experience in an automated manufacturing environment, with experience in a paper converting environment preferred but not required

  • Proven mechanical aptitude or post secondary education in a technical discipline

  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills

  • Able to work well with others as well as with minimal supervision

  • Good communication skills with the ability to lead a team

  • Self motivated and shows initiative

  • Good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, manual dexterity

  • Able to work shifts (days, afternoon and nights)

Other requirements

  • Some college, vocational or technical training is preferred

  • Must be comfortable doing repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads and standing for extended periods in a noisy environment (ear plugs will be provided)

  • Mechanical aptitude testing will be administered to candidates to determine their suitability
