Responsibility for Northern Indiana Technical Operations Group output and deliverables supporting Urinalysis and Diabetes raw material, reagent manufacturing and OEM product assembly.
Responsibility for OEM Professional Diabetes and Immunochromatography technical product support, including raw materials, product investigations, cost and performance improvement projects. Professional Diabetes support includes working knowledge of Global Hemoglobin A1c standardization issues.
Technical Evaluation of Raw Material Supplier capabilities, quality and delivery.
Represent the Northern Indiana Technical Operations function as Core Team or Element Team Member on one or more projects.
Collaboration with key internal functions, external suppliers and manufacturing groups involved in the product life cycle.
Responsible for functional management of Technical Operations, including both management responsibility for assigned personnel and functional excellence.
Supervising and leading the Technical Operations Group, including personnel, cost, and technical management.
Preparation and presentation of performance appraisals for assigned personnel
Identification of training and development needs for assigned personnel.
Total Budget of Position $1.2M
Manage and in some cases, personally lead Technical based problem solving investigations, performance and cost improvement projects within the Northern Indiana Reagent Manufacturing Sites and with Diabetes and Urinalysis reagent OEM’s.
These activities involve multiple disciplines and interfacing with Site and external groups, including QA/RA, Service and Support, Assay Development, Software, Instrument Systems and Information Design.
Collaboration with Technical Operations Leaders from other reagent sites to leverage technical expertise and implement new, effective processes or reagent syntheses.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry required
Expert knowledge in process development, validation and technology transfer procedures
At least 10 years’ experience in a regulated biomedical or biochemical industrial environment, with a medical device field, Urinalysis and Professional Diabetes clinical diagnostics products especially preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a multifunctional technical staff engaged in multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong planning, organization, analytical, management, and leadership skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Capable presenter to technical, executive, customer, and peer-group audiences.
Previous experience working in an FDA regulated environment required
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Ph.D. or Masters Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry (preferred)
Six Sigma and Statistical knowledge is a plus
Experience with immuno based diagnostic test desired.
