DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS)a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Bridgeport/Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. NPS is structured into four Lines of Business: Surface, Submarines, Nuclear instrumentation and Controls and Marlo Coil focusing on supporting the power and propulsion needs of the U.S. Navy. We provide engineering, manufacturing and lifetime support of our highly engineered products.

Position Summary

Directs and co-ordinates activities connected with production of company product(s), utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of Assembly and/or test personnel

  • Assists personnel in resolving technical issues, and advises manufacturing manager.

  • Distributes, obtains, and requisitions supplies and materials

  • Confers with program management to establish production schedules

  • Develop budgets, cost of completes, and quotation information

  • Collect and monitor data regarding departmental metrics

  • Define and direct actions resulting from analysis of metrics

  • Establish production priorities in keeping with effective operations and cost factors

  • Performs reviews of reports and follows up with corrective and/or improvement activities

Basic Qualifications.

  • Minimum two years of manufacturing experience

  • Supervisor experience or completions of a supervisor training program

  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic e-mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphs….etc

  • Required to have completed at least a two-year college degree or equivalent.

  • An understanding of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing techniques

  • U.S. Citizenship

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • 2-3 years comparable experience

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee requires normal manual dexterity, speech and hearing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty-five (35) pounds, be able to stand for up to 9 hours a day and perform walking, lifting, bending, stooping and kneeling requirements. Specific vision abilities required by this job require frequent use of a computer monitor. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently
