JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE Under the direction of the Value Stream Manager, the Chemical Manufacturing Operator I sets up and operates limited departmental equipment to perform bulk material processing, standard chemical preparations, and a limited number of drying/kiln type furnace operations according to route cards. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Use proper safety and personal protective equipment. Understand how to find and use SDS and HMIS system. Perform proper disposal of regulated waste debris and process wastewater. Work with hazardous preps safely. Participate in departmental safety programs. Perform basic air-sensitive compound manipulations. Complete labor data entry. Read and comprehend SOPs and production orders. Label containers properly. Fill out accurate and complete lab records. Use math to calculate rate, ratio, and conversion of measurements. Maintain a clean work area and equipment. Perform minor maintenance of equipment. Use and maintain equipment such as a sandblaster, a 55 gallon drum hoist, an optical pyrometer, and a scale. Hand/bag mix, cake materials. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Requires the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions. 1-3 years experience in an industrial setting is required. A high school diploma or GED is required. An education generally equivalent to an Associates degree in chemistry from a two-year college or technical school or a Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Physics (or other related hard science) is acceptable in lieu of work experience.
