The Dow Chemical Company’s Michigan Operationshas exciting opportunities forProcess Operatorsfor our manufacturing facilities in theGreat Lakes Bay Region.
The Michigan Operations team is looking for top-caliber, technically capable Process Operators who are focused on safety, embrace change, make informed decisions, possess self-confidence and leadership skills and are lifelong learners.
Process Operators will be responsible for:
Operating process related equipment and plant process control systems in a safe environmentally responsible manner
Optimizing plant performance by monitoring process equipment and conditions using information systems including; process levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates
Collecting and reporting plant measurements related to performance, asset utilization, quality, costs yields, environmental health and safety (EH&S), production rates, etc.
Performing field checks, adjusting control systems and manually operated equipment based on process and lab data.
Determining root causes of deviations in process, product or equipment performance through use of troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis.
Identifying opportunities for improvement and implements improvements when appropriate
Analyzing laboratory and sampling results to maintain process and quality standards as well as learning a variety of chemical processes and develop ideas to improve them.
Responsible for performing process equipment troubleshooting, routine equipment repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance.
Performing daily tasks efficiently using the appropriate computer tools and software.
Ensuring operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
Completing individual duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
These positions have a minimum starting hourly rate of $16.15 -$23.95 per hour with potential career progression.
Potential for overtime opportunities
Eligible for an additional $0.50 per hour if assigned to a role that covers 24/7 rotating shifts.

Required qualifications (must possess one or more of the following):
Chemical Process FastStart certificate obtained from Delta College
Associate's degree in Chemical Process or Chemical Technology
4 years military experience in a technical field (i.e. mechanical, electronic or technology based training)
4 years manufacturing experience
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Be willing and able to work all applicable shifts on a rotating basis (including weekends & holidays) and work overtime when needed.
Be able to pass a functional physical testing and be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
Be able to lift 50 pounds, lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment routinely.
Communicate effectively across a diverse work group
Follow procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation
Perceive, identify, and respond to plant and site alarms
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Must have a current, valid, United States driver license.
Pass a drug screen if job offer is received and accepted.
A minimum requirement of this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
Candidates must be willing and able to work in environments that include:
Working in tight or closed-in spaces
Climbing stairs/ladders and working at heights
Standing or walking for extended periods of time.
Working in environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Working outdoors and in inclement weather
Wearing safety equipment, such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes (safety equipment will be provided by Dow).
Potential opportunities at multiple locations within the Great Lakes Bay Region: Auburn, Hemlock and Midland, Michigan.
Location will be determined based on business needs
