POSITION FUNCTIONAssist in all aspects of engineering plans for the construction of commercial and residential electric services. To secure, record, analyze and maintain engineering data, perform drafting functions and assist in line staking as assigned. To establish and maintain controls and procedures for the accurate and effective management of the Cooperative’s system software integrations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIESWithin the limits of approved board policies, operating guides and procedures, assumes responsibility and has commensurate authority for the following activities:(a) Maintain accurate engineering and operation data through the utilization of available resources and following established policies, practices and procedures by obtaining, monitoring and processing appropriate data. (Metering, SCADA, mapping, joint use, OCR records, etc.)(b) Oversee the operation and maintenance of the Automated Mapping/Facilities Management/Geographical Information System to insure the electrical system drawing and model, the associated database and connectivity, and the geographical background are kept accurate and current.(c) Process staking sheets and work orders following established billing and accounting procedures.(d) Is responsible for input, updates and maintenance of the internal mapping system and related engineering in addition to the technical member data using Cooperative approved mapping software in order to keep the cooperative system current and accurate.(e) Oversees and assists in the maintenance of the cooperative's GIS by obtaining, updating, and implementing all information pertaining to the electric distribution system that is provided by engineering and operations, transportation and land-use such as roadways, waterways, and state, county, township, city, and individual property boundaries in a timely manner.(f) Builds queries to retrieve mapping data to support system studies and to produce specialized reporting as required.(g) Prepares and utilizes specialized spreadsheets and database applications to provide technical support and analysis of GIS/GPS systems.(h) Analyzes and defines process changes to gain efficiencies and to improve the quality of data.(i) Researches and investigates new technologies relating to mapping systems for the purpose of moving the Cooperative toward the direction of innovation, efficiency and effectiveness.(j) Maintains GIS/GPS data accuracy, security and integrity at all times.(k) Assists with current and future development opportunities of the Cooperative’s GIS. Assists with current and future development opportunities of GPS in support of GIS.(l) Provides mapping services to maintain timely and accurate system maps in addition to maintaining timely updates involving Missouri One Call maps.(m) Trains end users in use of field GIS/GPS procedures.(n) Analyzes load data, makes voltage drop studies, monitors system load patterns, and assists in energy management.(o) Secures and maintains data to provide information for and support construction work plans and other engineering studies to assure adequate system capacity, voltaqe levels and reliability standards.(p) Work in a departmental team environment to share responsibility of problem solving and to improve synergy of overall system flow.(q) Keeps informed and works within the parameters of the cooperative’s policies, plans, programs, and rates. Attends safety meetings, training, and other employee meetings as required. Uses safe working procedures and looks out for the safety of others.(r) Troubleshoots communication and reporting errors between multiple system software utilized for daily cooperative business.(s) Follows Cooperative, OSHA, state and other regulatory rules, policies and procedures.(t) All other duties as assigned by the Operations Superintendent, Operations Coordinator or General Manager.


  • Electrical engineering degree preferred
