Sutter Health Manager, Data Operations - EDM in Mather, California

Provides leadership Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake technical teams. Envisions and drives new database management solutions that improve access to clinical and operational data. Oversees activities performed by Data Warehouse Administrators, Technical Analysts, and DBA’s. Owns the Enterprise Data Warehouse infrastructure in an environment of rapid growth and change. Ensures adherence to technical standards and security standards to safeguard privacy of PHI and PII. Manages vendor relationships, manages and arbitrates technical environment resource requirements, oversees technical projects.

Works closely with managers of Epic Clarity Reporting, Data Engineering, Big Data and Business Intelligence teams, shares accountability for quality of data available for analysis and development. Collaborates in implementation of ITIL framework for Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management. Supports adoption of Agile Kanban methodology and shared tools to support DevOps team capabilities. Maintains standards for technical documentation, including procedure manuals, environment diagrams and runbooks. Works with architects and business leadership to ensure data systems conform to enterprise data strategy for Data Warehouse and Big Data.

Assists in the identification of areas for technical improvement, adopts new data management technologies that enable data-driven decision making for the organization. Oversees collection and analysis of technical metrics. Supports rigorous QA and testing with a focus on sustaining validity and integrity of data sources. Oversees professional development for all technical staff members.

Education

Computer Science, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Business, Management Information Systems, or related field is desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

∙ Extensive expertise in enterprise-scale development and deployment of data warehouse technology.

∙ Extensive DBA skills and highly advanced SQL and RDBMS knowledge

∙ Demonstrated analytical mindset with ability to troubleshoot and creatively solve business and technical problems across multiple platforms and stakeholders

∙ Strong server hardware and environment skills; experience with high-availability infrastructures; experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning

∙ Experience and proficiency in supporting Big Data platforms and architecture

∙ Familiarity with PowerCenter, Idera, Embarcadero, Azure SQL DW, Azure Data Factory technologies

∙ Ability to translate functional requirements and design specifications into technical specifications; effectively communicate verbally and in written form with business and technical stakeholders

∙ Ability to meet development scope, schedule and budget commitments.

∙ Ability to develop and maintain strong, effective relationships across the organization and between technical teams.

EXPERIENCE

∙ 10 years of progressive data management experience with a recent focus designing, developing and delivering data warehousing to support BI applications.

∙ 5 years proficiency in managing data focused solutions and tooling (including SQL and Hadoop); driving architecture and analytics in a data warehouse environment.

∙ 3 years planning, managing and mentoring the activities of a team of DW Developers

∙ Data analysis experience in the areas of medical or health services is preferred
