THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION.
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position with the 701 Combat Operations SQ located at March ARB CA with the military rank of Maj (O4) AFSC 13B3. For questions concerning military eligibility please contact the Air Force Reserve Qualification Center at 1-800-257-1212.
Applicant must be commissioned or commissionable as an ART Officer in the Air Force Reserve. Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, Air Reserve Technicians are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force Reserve unit where assigned. As members of Reserve units, Air Reserve Technicians receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointees civilian assignments will consist of the following duties:
Responsible to the Squadron Commander for conducting training for the upgrade, qualification, and currency of squadron personnel
Exercise and battle staff training, planning, execution, and assessment. Acts as spokesperson for Combat Operations Squadron
Assists in the development of plans. Prepares assigned annexes. Reviews plans and agreements prepared by active duty and higher HQ personnel for preparation of detailed planning and resolution.
Functions as the overall manager of the operations division within the unit. Provided unit Commander and division chiefs with technical support in developing and maintain unit personnel readiness.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR and applicable Air Force Regulations

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-12) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include serving as the principal combat operations staff officer and overall subject matter expert (SME) on information, fighter, bomber, airlift, and air refueling, rescue or space operations issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities, operations, and resources of a geographically separated organization; and mentoring, motivating, and appraising a staff through subordinate supervisors.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge or experience gained as a rated navigator or pilot of tactical and strategic warfare, and wartime readiness postures.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of several organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to effectively interact with individuals, outside organizations, and interagency/international representatives in high pressure, timesensitive environments.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and negotiate complex, multi-dimensional issues.
The incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of the duties inherent in a senior command position.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE*:*Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:This is an ART position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in UTAs. The incumbents regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. As necessary to meet special or essential unscheduled activities, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice. May be required to fly in commercial and/or military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. Incumbent works in an environment where there is periodic intense activity and stress. Knowledge of and skill in the application of rated aviator expertise, as either a pilot, navigator or Air Battle Manager is required.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
