The EU Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES) Team is responsible for driving step-change improvements in the performance of Amazon’s European Operations from vendor through to customer. We work backwards from the customer and define new innovative solutions that raise the bar on customer experience and speed whilst constantly lower our cost of fulfilment and supporting our continued high growth.

This is a very exciting time to join the European ACES team given our fast growth and rapid change across the EU. The team work on the top strategic projects and opportunities across the European operations influencing business-critical decisions and taking the performance of the operations to the next level.

It is expected that this role is a stepping stone and a fast track into more senior and ultimately director level roles in running businesses across EU operations and Amazon overall in Europe.

Role: Senior Manager

We are looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Manager to be part of the leadership team within ACES. The roles will report into the European Director of ACES and independently define, own and drive a portfolio of complex cross-functional and cross-EU projects and programmes from concept through to full implementation. The range of projects and programmes will be extremely broad and wide ranging covering improving fulfilment centre processes and productivity, improving customer delivery quality and speed, developing new solutions for collaborating with vendors and transportation, introducing new technologies and automation, and integrating new operating models and customer propositions. This is a senior level hire and the Senior Manager will be expected to manage a diverse and complex portfolio of pan-EU projects and programmes and manage a significant number of project managers and analysts.

The Senior Manager is expected to work as a generalist across the operations but can also develop expertise and specialise depending on his/her passions and career goals.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

· Identifying and prioritising projects and programmes to drive operational improvement and change

o Work closely with the Operations Leadership in Europe as well as Retail, Supply Chain and Transportation to identify big opportunities for change

o Assess the scope and feasibility and recommend projects to senior leadership

· Independently manage a portfolio of large complex projects and programmes from concept through to pilot and full implementation

o Structure approaches to solving complex operational problems and develop key hypotheses

o Drive and manage detailed data analysis to shape and scope solutions

o Partner with key stakeholders in Operations, Engineering, Retail, Transportation and Supply Chain to design detailed operational solutions

o Structure and develop detailed implementation plans and work with Operational Leaders to pilot and test new solutions and then roll-out across the broader organization

· Providing leadership and expertise to the team and operations

o Manage and lead significant number of Project Managers and Project Analysts within the ACES team

o Teach and coach Amazon Operational teams on how to drive performance improvement and focus on the highest value opportunities

o Along with the senior ACES team be the architect and gatekeeper of the Amazon’s EU operating model

-- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in a Science-based subject (or higher e.g. MBA)

  • 8-10 years + management experience in either Consulting, Manufacturing, Production, or Supply Chain

  • Experience of complex operational, process, and performance improvement projects (lean or six sigma experience also valued) including process mapping and process re-design

  • Experience across the full project lifecycle – analysis and design as well as implementation

  • Recognised as a top performer versus peers in his/her career to date

  • Passion for Amazon’s business and motivation to progress and build a career with Amazon

    • Demonstrated experience and proficiency of hypothesis-led problem solving
  • Highly analytical and comfortable with large analyses. Able to quickly distill down complex operating models and identify where the value and opportunity is

  • Ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level. Credible and impactful both with Senior Operational and Business Leaders as well as on the shop floor.
