Olin Brass Director, Operational Accounting in Louisville, Kentucky
GBC Metals, LLC, doing business as Olin Brass, utilizes more than 60 different copper-based alloys to produce specialized sheet and strip products for a variety of end uses. Primary markets for our high-performance products include automotive, microelectronic, and communication interconnects, as well as a long history in the supply of standard alloys in the manufacture of ammunition, coinage, and builders’ hardware. We currently have an opportunity for a Director, Operational Accounting in our Louisville, Kentucky, office.
Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Operational Accounting, will direct the activities of operational accounting for all Olin Brass sites. The role will also monitor and project product profitability for all Olin Brass businesses through the development of monthly forecasts, annual budgets and long range strategic plans. The Director will provide leadership and professional development for Operational Accounting staff, and develop and implement corporate initiatives and strategies.
Lead the inventory accounting systems for Olin Brass, ensuring consistency by all locations and compliance with Olin Brass operational accounting methodology.
Develop accounting systems to ensure that all hedge accounting issues comply with GAAP, are transparent to management and mesh with Olin Brass LIFO accounting.
Lead the Operational Accounting staff to ensure that all costs systems are compliant with Olin Brass expectations.
Develop system improvements to monthly, quarterly and annual LIFO inventory calculations to sync the process with hedging process and valuation methodology.
Develop a metal valuation system that properly accounts for the mass balance flow of metal through Olin brass, receipts, shrinkage, sweepings, pit cleanings, scrap generation, by-product sales, outside processing and shipments to customers.
Lead the Operational Accounting staff, develop expectations for staff and manage professional development of staff.
Provide monthly rolling forecasts, annual budgets and long range plans for Olin Brass.
Provide financial leadership in all operating systems to ensure that all assets are protected and risks are identified and managed.
Develop product profitability by item and provide marketing team with up-to-date information.
Competencies and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration;
15+ years’ experience in manufacturing industry;
Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory valuation methods;
Strong written and verbal communications;
Ability to develop, measure and communicate planning systems;
Ability to complete complex financial analytics and communicate results to financial and non-financial teams;
Knowledge of SOX compliance;
ERP implementation experience desired.
