Manager System Operations Training

Position Summary

The Manager is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of training programs that support Crewmembers working in System Operations, Crew Services and Dispatch departments, including the implementation of an Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) for Dispatchers. The Manager is also responsible for partnering with operational counterparts in System Operations, Crew Services and Dispatch to ensure training requirements are successfully met.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development and review of training curriculum for all System Operations, Crew Services and Dispatch Crewmembers

  • Defines and determines training needs in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements

  • Partners with operational counterparts to ensure alignment in training needs

  • Partners with various JBU teams, including Learning Design, Safety Management System/AQP, and Assessment/Measurement/Evaluation

  • Responsible for the quality of training provided

  • Approves all System Operations, Crew Services and Dispatch training curriculum

  • Evaluates and approves instructors and material presented

  • Partners with the System Operations Center (SOC) leadership and IT in the implementation of training for new technologies and tools for SOC Crewmembers

  • Responsible for the accuracy of training records, where applicable

  • Takes a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, and goal achievement

  • Coordinates with other JBU college managers ensuring standardization, quality and consistency of training programs

  • Stays current on educational trends and works to update and improve professional and business knowledge, skills and attitude

  • Other duties as assigned Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma

  • Five (5) years Part 121 airline operations experience

  • Five (5) years leadership experience with performance management, professional development, or organizational development

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Occasional overnight travel (20%)

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (30%)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree any field

  • Possesses or working towards obtaining FAA Dispatch certificate

  • JetBlue Dispatch qualification

  • Three (3) years’ experience working with regulatory requirements

  • Three (3) years of instructor experience

  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills with the ability to effectively delegate

  • In depth knowledge of Part 121 Dispatch and Flight/Inflight Scheduling Federal Aviation Regulations

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities Equipment:
