Job Summary: This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. Reports to the Manager-Proton Accelerator. Under minimal supervision, the Accelerator Operator 2 operates accelerator for patient treatments, quality assurance measurements, and beam development testing. Responsible for safe and accurate control of proton accelerator during the shift. Helps with training and recurrent testing of new operators. Uses computer skills to solve beam problems related to beam delivery systems and new accelerator upgrades. Works on other accelerator and beam related projects as assigned. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed. * Job Specifications:* Required eye-hand coordination for beam controls during patient treatments. Able to get along well with team members and communicate technical information. Have abstract reasoning ability for problem solving using mathematics and computer modeling. In order for the Accelerator Operator 1 to advance into the Accelerator Operator 2 position, the incumbent must demonstrate to the Accelerator Specialist and/or Manager a number of tasks and exercises related to the fundamentals of the proton accelerator's basic operation. An overall written and/or oral exam established by Accelerator Operations Specialist and/or Manager will be used to evaluate the knowledge and understanding of the proton accelerator and facility operation. Competency in the use of diagnostic equipment, monitoring equipment, and simulation software may also be involved. Bachelor's degree or higher in physics or engineering required. Minimum of four years experience as a trained and competent Accelerator Operator 1 required.Works rotating shifts and weekends.
