Blackstone Technology Group, an award winning technology consulting andstaffing firm, is seeking an Operations Technician II to join our team andwork at our client site in Denver, CO.Our client is a global communications, hosting, cloud and IT servicescompany. They operate more than 55 data centers in North America, Europe andAsia and provide broadband, voice, video, data and managed services overa robust 250,000-route-mile U.S. fiber network and a 300,000-route-mileinternational transport network. Our client is headquartered in Monroe,LouisiaPosition Responsibilities:Proactively monitor and respond to and resolve network alarms.Perform circuit and equipment/network restoration, recognize potentialjeopardy conditions and notify management and Program Office with riskpotential and impact assessments.Management of circuits (T1 100Gb, Ethernet & IP), perform testingand activation of new network circuits as well as long-haul, metro andinternational optical networks.Work very closely with Federal government NOC customers for all demand andscheduled maintenance to conform to customer network management requirementsand protocols.Analyze network troubles, assess performance data and develop designoptimization plans accordingly. Interface with fiber vendors, telecomproviders and other entities on complex technical matters. Participate as aLead/SME to select customers to participate in regular customer meetings,procedural reviews, audits, and other functions.Review and interpret EDPs and as-built engineering documentation.Coordinate and track RMA requests, including vendor interface to obtain RMAauthorization requests and completion of RMA submittal forms.Ensure services conform to customer mandated SLAs for latency, packetloss, jitter, throughput.Analyze, test and repair Layer 2/3 network problems.Basic Qualifications:Strong working knowledge and experience on Metro Ethernet and IPcommunications (IPv4, IPv6, routing protocols). Technical knowledgeand experience on contemporary technologies (e.g. MPLS, TDM, Ethernet,eLAN-eLine, TCP/IP, BGP, QoS, IP, etc.).Minimum of 5+ years experience with SONET based, long-haul and metrotransport networks, next-generation DWDM wavelength systems, SDH networkswith SNCP rings, DCCS cross-connect systems and/or Ethernet, VPLS, IP, MPLS.Preferred Cisco CCIP, CCDP, CCNP certifications, Juniper or ALU datanetworking equivalent. Previous experience with broadband and/or narrowbandcircuit maintenance, testing and restoration, provisioning databases andcircuit activations.Previous experience with routers, IP protocols, configurations,interfaces is strongly preferred.Ability to test using standard protocols, as well as Iperf and Brix platforms.Demonstrated leadership profile to manage customer networks, proactivelytrack and escalate issues, engage resources to expedite service/networkoutages, professional interaction skills with customers and management.Ability to relate technical issues to management and Gov't personnel.Prior experience with Transport platforms (i.e. Nortel, Cisco, Ciena,Lucent and Tellabs) and Data platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Adtran).Must be able to effectively manage multiple issues simultaneously througheffective work prioritization.
