About the Agency
The selectee for this position will serve as a Hazardous Waste Disposer (Motor Vehicle Operator) in Lemoore, California of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Treat hazardous waste using specialized and nonstandard processing and disposing procedures.
- Inspect waste material received from hazardous waste generators to accept or reject the material.
- Comply with established hazardous material safety requirements to prevent damage to property or injury to others.
- Operate hazardous waste transport vehicles assigned to a division in an efficient and safe manner.
- Operate tools associated with the processing of solid or hazardous waste (e.g., hydraulic drum handling equipment, cutting tools, compactors, mixers, mechanical and chemical pumps, hand tools).
- Occasional Travel
- You may be expected to travel for this position.
- Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) or relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5753 may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performs sampling or field tests to identify unknown substances according to the identification procedures; 2) Inspects hazardous waste prior to pick up to ensure containers are in good condition, labeled, and the paperwork matches the items being picked up; 3) Performs daily warehouse inspections for proper labeling, marking, container type, condition of containers, segregation of waste, and safety.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Must be able to wear personal type safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Required to become CPR and respirator certified.
Requires use of self-contained breathing apparatus and air-purifying respirators.
Must have the ability to read and write in order to interpret and apply code of federal regulation 40 & 49 for transporting HAZMAT/HW.
